UK Discontinues Police Registration Scheme for Foreign Nationals

On the 4th of August 2022, UK authorities announced the abolishment of the Police Registration Scheme for foreign nationals with immediate effect. The announcement came as a relief to intending applicants and visitors to the UK as the Scheme which was introduced in 2014, was considered too onerous as it had required visitors to report to their local police within seven days of arrival in the UK, alongside mandating them to report any subsequent changes to the information they provided to the police. The now abolished scheme applied to visitors who were above the age of 16 years.
